Privacy policy
This landing site is deliberately light on data collection. This page describes everything the site stores and shares, in plain language. It covers gainforest.earth only; the production app at gainforest.app has its own policies for project data and accounts.
What we store
- Session cookie. If you sign in with a Bluesky handle through ATProto OAuth, we set one first-party cookie named
gf-session-token. It contains an opaque random token, never your DID, handle, or email. Clearing it (or signing out) ends the session completely. - Local preferences. Your browser saves your light/dark theme choice under a localStorage key, and, if you drag the floating Taina assistant widget, its last screen position. Both stay on your device; they are never sent to us.
What is shared with third parties
- Taina chat. Messages you send to the Taina assistant are relayed through our server to a large language model provider (OpenRouter) to generate her reply. Chats are anonymous; we do not require an account and do not attach them to advertising profiles.
- Infrastructure requests. Loading map tiles, partner avatars, and community feed photos exposes your IP address to those hosting providers, exactly as with any web request.
What we do not do
No analytics trackers. No advertising pixels. No cross-site tracking. No sale of personal data. No fingerprinting scripts.
